Sarah's Story
After years navigating a turbulent marriage, Sarah suddenly found herself a single parent raising five girls, ages four to fifteen. Necessity left no room for self-pity. She knew she had to step up and provide for her large family. “My goal was to stay focused on the positive and keep moving forward,” Sarah says.
She had no idea so many organizations existed to help—government agencies, community groups, churches, and food banks. Each one became a vital rung on the ladder out of a desperate situation. “Faith, prayer, and a lot of hard work give each day focus, intention, and joy,” she shares.
Sarah found free ways to keep her girls engaged and healing: the library, sports camps, and programs at the YWCA. These activities restored a sense of normalcy during an otherwise overwhelming time.
She started with almost nothing—few possessions and no driver’s license. Public transit and walking became her only options, in every kind of weather. There was simply no alternative. Volunteering helped her retain self-respect and a sense of personal value—something she continues to this day. She later entered a skills and trades training program that opened the door to part-time employment.
Then a powerful ray of hope appeared: Regina Supercars Charity and its program providing free cars to low-income single mothers. Without a license, another hurdle stood in the way. Over several years she worked steadily toward that goal and finally earned her driver’s license. “I was so thankful to be nominated and accepted onto the waiting list for a car.”
A year later, a suitable vehicle became available. Sarah was overwhelmed by the gift of a free car—a life-changing blessing. Today she drives to get groceries and takes her girls to their activities with ease and independence. Her faith remains strong: there are no limits to what a person can achieve when they press forward with all their strength.
Regina Supercars is blessed in return, knowing this gift has transformed the lives of six people in one family. We have repeated this story nearly forty times over the past ten years. We could not continue this vital work without the generous donations of cars and cash from our wonderful supporters.
